The sanctuary of the Wheeling, WV, church buzzed with Christmas excitement on December 5th, as members and guests enjoyed Wise Men Still Seek Him, a program hosted by the youth and young adults. The program, which included congregational hymns, scripture readings, PowerPoint presentations, and musical ensembles, began with a poem, Follow Me, in which the Wise Men from the East were compared with today’s Christians also searching for their King and following Jesus’ invitation to “Come!” A guest presenter from the Weirton Seventh-day Adventist church portrayed one of the Wise Men following a bright star nearly 2,000 years ago and invited the congregation to help him find the new King of the Jews as he began looking for a very special baby.
Musical talent was showcased throughout the evening with a stirring rendition of Mary, Did You Know?, a guitar group sing of What Child Is This?, and a piano solo, A Christmas Medley. A unique part of the program was entitled “Around the World,” as various members recited John 3:16 in six different languages, which included Chinese, French, Swahili, Lingala, Spanish, and English. The congregation was reminded that all around the world, Christians claim the promise that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, so that through Him, each of us can be saved and become children of God. No matter what language, no matter what traditions, it’s the same wonderful story - the birth of our Savior and the gift of eternal life!
The evening’s program concluded with a candlelight ceremony to O Holy Night. After the benediction, guests were invited to the fellowship hall to enjoy a Christmas reception.
